This article is official Retributions Blade policy. When representing RB, users should follow these guidelines at all times.
All Retribution Guild Members are encouraged to be familiar with and asked to comply with each of the guild policies explained on this page. If you have any questions regarding any policy please ask any Guild Officer for assistance.
Panhandling - the act of asking for free goods, resources or services.
New members ("WANDERERs") are prohibited from requesting free services, resources or crafted goods from guild members until they reach the rank of "Forager (Associate)" or higher.
This encourages new members just arriving in guild to work for resources instead of begging for them. This does not prevent guild members from offering free services, resources or crafted goods, instead, it's a policy put in place which discourages "mooching" while encourages self motivation.
A new member that just arrives and immediately starts asking for stuff will quickly find themselves being shown the door. Those who violate this policy could face sanctions up to and including Guild expulsion. Please remember our guild is based on the premise of "give as much as you take".
AWAY FROM KEYBOARD (AFK) Policy
All Members are asked to use the "/AFK" feature whenever they are unavailable to respond to tells or guild chat.
This helps reduce or avoid misunderstandings and communications problems and is a fine display of good manners.
All Guild Members Character Names must comply fully with the game Term Of Service and must also follow our more restrictive guidelines.
Our more restrictive "naming" guidelines include:
No Character name that appears offensive to the average player.
No Character names that have repeatable letters (3 or more continuous) within the name.
No Character names that represents acronyms which could be interpreted as offensive or questionable.
No Character names that incorporate religious references (i.e. God, Angel, Lord, Satan, Lucifer etc).
No Character names that are derogotory, negative or inappropriate in nature.
1. Players who have created a character name that is borderline or clear violation of this policy, will be given a 15 minute window of opportunity to rename their character:
either through the use of a "potion" or
by "re-rolling" the character.
A. If at the end of 15 minutes they have failed to correct the name:
1.they will be refused entry, or
2.temporarily removed from, the guild.
B. If they have changed the Character name to comply with this policy
1. new members -
a. will be granted entry into the guild providing all "recruiting" policies are met
2. prior members -
a. if they were out of guild LESS than 24 hrs (due to name violations only):
will be permitted to re-join the guild (excluding other issues)
will be returned to their previous rank
b. if they were out of guild MORE than 24 hours (due to name violations only):
will be permitted to re-join the guild (excluding other issues)
- IF returning as an "Elder" - they will be given the rank of Jester
- IF returning as an "Alt" - they will be returned to the rank of their "Elder" character.
2. Continued Repeated Offenses:
either by accident or
by deliberate offense
A. Any member who continues to create offensive named characters in an attempt to be humorous or to deliberately create disruption will (including all alts) be removed from the guild and placed on the "No-Join" list.
B. Members removed from the guild for continued repeated "naming" offenses will remain on the "No-Join" list for a period not to exceed 90 days and may petition the guild for membership after removal from the "No-Join" list.
The Guild Leadership reserves the right as sole judgement of what's a violation of this policy and what's not and will apply their decision accordingly. Bottom line is if you are unsure, then you should err on the side of caution and decide on a different name, or contact Guild Leader or Officer to review prior to creating such name.
COMMISSION CRAFTED ITEMS
Accepting fees for crafting commissioned items are allowed.
Commission Crafted Items are unique in that crafting these items require specialized skill sets and and these items cannot always be listed on the world broker. Since the member is required to provide the materials necessary to craft these items, and because of the unique training requirements necessary for the craftsman, accepting fees for crafting items are allowed. This does not mean that guild craftsmen are "required" to charge a fee, it simply means they have the authorization to do so.
Drama should be left on the stage not in game. Our goal is to find members who can play together and get along. Please remember, this is only a game, let's have fun!
We understand someone might slip and issue a profanity word in the heat of battle, that issue is covered under the "Profanity" policy, Cutting someone down, sending discouraging tells, blowing up at someone and sending negative tells, verbal comments, as well as making open guild chat comments designed to encite unrest or undermine the guild are all considered forms of creating Drama.
Individuals come to online games for many reasons, some come to relax, others come for excitement or to relieve boredom.
Our goals here within this guild is to provide a supportive, relaxed play environment and leave the excitement to the mobs that may jump out to attack you. That being said, members are asked to remember that this is a game. It's meant to be fun. It's one thing to get upset at a mob, it's another to get upset at a member, officer or player. It's no fun having someone get upset at you when you make a mistake or don't act the way you may be expected to, especially when someone's trying to learn. Clearly put, if you get upset, walk away from your computer, and come back after you've calmed down. There is no room for anyone who can't be pleasant or can't play without spouting off or sending inappropriate tells to ANYONE. This includes Officers, as they are players and members too, and aren't getting paid to take grief from anyone including you. So PLEASE, remember this if you get upset. Is this a drama free guild? You can bank that we are sure trying to make it that way. That's our number one goal of this guild. I don't know how else to put it or make it any clearer. We expect you to embrace the world of "drama-free" playstyle as long as you are being supported by this guild, your guild. And if you feel you can't (for whatever reason you care to give) then I personally invite you to dismiss yourself now and save everyone else the need to have to endure the drama.
Issues involving "reported" drama, meaning anything not specifically witnessed by a Guild Officer, will require an independent witness prior to the guild taking action on such issue. Witness can be supported in the form of screenshots as well as another non-related guild member's confirmation of the situation. In all cases of "reported" drama, the Guild Officers will review all evidence and you will be invited to state your case if you are the defendant of the claim.
Depending on the situation or severity of any drama offense, we may issue a warning or may not. If we don't issue a warning, dismissal most certainly will result. Issuing a warning to you over drama may also result in your being moved to a different rank or placement into probation. The second notice regarding drama could result in dismissal at the decision of any sole Guild Leadership (Officer, Assistant Guild Leader or Guild Leader) and the third notice or offense will most certainly result in dismissal. Prior to return to the guild, any player removed for drama related offenses will be required to issue an apology to the offended player and be required to face a minimum of one week probation prior to returning to the guild. The Guild Leadership will meet to review any application for return membership prior to issuing a new guild invite. The Guild Leadership reserves the right to make the sole determination as to what constitutes "drama". If you aren't sure, or if it's questionable, then it's most certainly best to err on the side of caution and not send that tell or type that profanity or press that transmit button.
DONATIONS MADE TO THE GUILD
Once Donated, Always Donated.
ALL ITEMS (example: Status Points, Coin/Plat, Furniture, Equipment, Guild Bank Items) transferred to any guild officer, placed within the guild hall, or moved into any Guild account, such as a Guild Escrow or Guild Hall Escrow are considered DONATED to the guild, with all rights to the item(s) released and forfeited forever.
This means that anyone who donates anything to the guild, understands that it will not be returned to them at any time or for any reason.
In certain situations, game mechanics don't allow for items to be returned no matter what any player wishes. This specifically refers to status points donated to the guild, as well as money placed in Guild Escrow.
Regardless if game mechanics allow or not, Retributions Blade has adopted the "Once Donated, Always Donated" policy for ALL ITEMS given to the guild. Please do not donate ANY item(s) unless you are willing to release all future rights to the item(s).
GAME RULES and TERMS OF SERVICE
All Retributions Guild Members are expected and required to comply fully with the Sony/EQIIx Rules and Terms of Service while a member of this guild.
Plain and simple, if you are found to be violating either, you will be given one chance to correct the situation with no debates or arguments. Questions regarding clarifications are allowed.
Failure to correct the situation immediately upon notice will result in the violator being removed from the guild and return to the guild is subject to review by the Guild Leadership.
ADVERTISEMENTS AND HYPERTEXT LINKAGE
This policy states: Only those advertisements or hypertext links which have been pre-approved in writing by Garden Chateau may be placed on any website owned or operated by Garden Chateau. This policy also carries forward into the game wherever game options might provide an avenue to display these items. Therefore to clarify, no URL's, HTML links or Advertisements may be placed on Members Personal Notes, Officer Notes, Message of The Day, Guild Screens, Guild Chat Channels, or voice channels without prior written approval of Garden Chateau or Retributions Blade Guild Leader. Members are required to provide proof of authorization upon request.
GIFTS TO MEMBERS
Gifts are items or services given to any member with NO STRINGS ATTACHED. Gifts are not "trades", Gifts are not Charging an individual a price, and a Gift is not asking for something in return. It is a "gift free and clear".
You are welcome to offer to GIVE the item to the member in need if your financial situation is such that you can afford the donation. The key thing to remember here is no soliciting sales of items within the guild.
Our guild adheres to the "Need before Greed" (NBG) policy when grouped with fellow guild members
This policy applies to ALL LOOT ITEMS (1) This policy applies whenever grouped with another guild member.
1. TO COMPLY with this policy you are expected to:
A. Select "NEED" only -
if you can USE(2) the item for the CHARACTER YOU ARE CURRENTLY ON(3)
for CRAFTING MATS (4)
B. Select "GREED" or "DECLINE" -
for all other items.
This means in most groups you will be choosing "GREED" on a lot of items.
(1) See Deviations and Exceptions (section 2)
(2) To clarify when an item is considered "usable", the item(s) must meet each of these criteria:
a. Must be within 2 levels of the character you're on
b. Must not exclude the same class of the character you're on
c. Must be an improvement to the ability or equipment of the character you're on
(3) This means you cannot loot the item
a. to sell, transmute or salvage
b. for any other player
c. or for any alt you might have
whether on the same account or not
(4) As mat drops are super rare and all members are expected to roll "NEED"
2. DEVIATIONS or EXCEPTIONS from this policy -
A. Guild/group members may deviate from this policy:
when mission or quest objectives dictates the need for a different loot option
when all group members agree to a different loot policy
when choosing "decline" or choosing "greed" for all or some loot drops.
B. Guild Leaders may deviate from this policy:
for group mission specific objectives (i.e.; group harvest run)
to complete a mission
to complete a quest
3. VIOLATIONS of this policy -
A. In the event a group member is violating this policy, the Group Leader has the option to:
Pause the group's progression and re-clarify the loot policy
Change the loot to "Leader Only" and manually disburse loot in the "need before greed" manner
Remove the member from group (providing they have either discussed it with the member in private tells, the member fails to respond to tells, or repeated offenses occur)
Discuss it with Guild Officers later if time and place doesn't warrant immediate addressing. Group Leaders should always choose "non-combat" periods to discuss "violations".
B. In the event a Group Leader is violating this policy, the Group Member has the option to:
Ask the Group Leader why the deviation from policy (in case it's for a mission or quest objective)
Ask the Group Leader to comply with the NBG Guild policy (if the deviation was not for a mission or quest objection)
Excuse themselves from the group
Notify a Guild Officer or Guild Leader if they perceive a policy violation
4. POLICY OBJECTIVES -
A. This policy mainly addresses
the group setup
the "need" function use
the game random roll lottery mechanics
the Group Leader functions (which are):
ensure all group members are familiar with this policy upon joining the group.
set the master group loot option to "Need before Greed" when the group is formed.
broadcast the loot method to each group member upon joining and prior to first loot.
* random roll - fairly allocates greed or need items as they become available and is considered to be the most fair to all group members
Voice and Text Channels
This policy applies the same to ALL Guild and Game Voice & Text Chat Channels both in and out of game.
While we aren't a "family orientated" style guild, we never-the-less have a duty to all to maintain a sense of decency and decorum in our guild and with all we come in contact with. We understand that an occasional curse word may slip out however anything of frequency is uncalled for and unwelcome.
Members who continue to spout profanity either in text or voice chat will be asked to refrain. If this is a repeated issue for someone, the Guild reserves the right to take further action including and up to dismissal from the Guild.
Any chat that violates the Guild's Terms of Service is prohibited. Specifically but not all inclusive is references to sexual innuendoes and racial jokes or slurs. Comments that might make another member uncomfortable should be ommitted at all times. Members are expected to steer completely clear of questionable conversations. Members who help fuel such conversations will be sanctioned in the same manner as the offender.
In ALL forms of communication, Members are Ambassadors and should conduct their behavior befitting a lady or gentleman in public and in accordance with our creed "Play With Honor". Please remember that you are the face of the guild, our reputation speaks volumes and we ask you to conduct yourself with a standard that's a level above all other players.
Profanity should be avoided at all times.
While we aren't a "family orientated" style guild, we never-the-less have a duty to all to maintain a sense of decency and decorum in our guild. We understand that an occasional curse word may slip out, however anything of frequency, deliberance or extreme offensiveness is uncalled for and unwelcome.
Members who continue to spout repetative profanity either in text or voice chat will be asked to refrain. "Repetative" is defined as two or more words of profanity within a continous fifteen minute period"
If this is a repeated issue for someone, the Guild reserves the right to take further action including and up to dismissal from the Guild. Please note that "SOME" profanity may be considered "so offensive" that immediate disiplinary actions may occur without warning.
Retributions Blade is a "content exploration" style guild. While that doesn't mean we won't raid, it means our attention is largely placed on completing quests and exploring new zones.
Raid policy is outlined in a separate section called "Raid Info"
GUILD MEMBERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SOLICIT SALES FROM GUILD MEMBERS EVER!
Our guild is known for it's generous members. This policy is designed to implement a fair and uniform method of transferring items between guild members and to reduce or eliminate any "pressured sales".
GUILD MEMBERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SOLICIT SALES FROM ANY GUILD MEMBER AT ANY TIME
Guild members may sell ANY item to ANY member at ANY time.
This may seem confusing so let us explain. While you may sell something to a member IF they ask to buy it from you, you aren't allowed to openly ask members if they will buy stuff from you. You may respond to any member who's asking for something by letting them know you have it for sale or can give it to them. What this policy is attempting to accomplish is to prevent our members from being subjected to the constant "SPAM" sells messages that often occur in the regular game channels.
Direct Sales are transfers between 2 or more guild members for an exchange of game currency.
These sales are allowed providing:
Item is sold for not more than the highest broker listed price
A member has come to you to ask for the item
You see a member asking for an item, you may offer to sell it to them
Members may choose to TIP craftsmen for their services but are not required to do so. All tips are VOLUNTARY
Indirect sales are items placed on the World Broker Market by a guild member then purchased by another guild member.
Members are welcome to place any item on the world broker for purchase at any price. Other members are encouraged to check for fellow guild member's sales before purchasing from outside the guild.
Bidding Wars are Prohibited. Guidelines are in place for these situations.
This policy will become effective February 22, 2013 at 0001 hours. It is designed to help all members and prevent the guild from being hurt financially by another of it's members.
Selling items on the market broker creates revenue for individuals and guilds. Our guild has one and only one representative appointed to sell items on behalf of the guild. Our representative is: "Retributions" aka "Retributions Blade".
Members are welcome to place any item on the world broker for purchase at any price. Bid wars are HIGHLY DISCOURAGED between a guild member and the guild. Bid wars may occur between individual guild members, just not between a member and the Guild's market sales representative named "Retributions".
So what is a bid war? A bidding war occurs when one member REPEATEDLY lowers their selling price for an item to stay under another selling price on the market broker.
Constantly lowering your sales prices to beat the guild's sales representative aka broker "Retributions" not only hurts other guild members, it also weakens the guild. A well established guild can be an important asset to it's members. We use money generated from member donations to sponsor the most benefits ever offered by any guild on the Freeport Server. We know that you expect the items you donate to generate the most coin possible and following this policy helps to serve that purpose.
Since each member becomes richer through guild sponsored benefits, our belief is, we can only do so if we can generate the funds needed to provide these special amenities. You are asked to be on the lookout for items being sold by "Retributions". IF by chance you are identified as being in a bid war with the guild's broker, an in-game message or tell may be dispatched to remind you of guild policy.
Here are some options you may wish to consider when this situation occurs:
Raise your price above the guild's asking price OR
Purchase the guild's item at it's listed price so you can resell the item yourself OR
Remove your item until you are no longer in direct competition with the guild sales rep
Contact "Retributions" to arrange a mutually beneficial selling agreement
Example #1: (this WOULD be considered a violation of the bidding war policy)
